One of the great delights of working at Cooper Tea Company is GINA!! Once a week, every week, Gina appears and gives us all a 15 minute back, arm and neck massage. When times were hard a few years ago and we were looking hard at what we could cut out or cut back on…it was a unanimous decision that Gina had to stay. She did, and we are the better for it. Some say we are a “New Age” company because we have Gina coming in. I don’t know about that, but I do know that Gina is the best moral booster we have going. We even offer visiting business associates a massage..hey ya’ll..come visit.

One more shot...its the first par three you come to...I made a four! |
No matter how far I roam, no matter where I call home, there is a golf course not far. This stunning course is in Moab, and winds its way among the red rocks and canyons that almost make the golf of secondary importance. We got stuck behind a really slow foursome so only played 9 holes, but what a nine. It is on my agenda to go back and finish the back 9!

One more ....! |
The other famous creations of nature in the park are the world renowned “Arches”. Those little dots you see in the center of the picture are people.

Here is a close up of the balancing rock |

And here is a side view...one more strong gust of wind and it looks as if that rock is a goner... |
One of the most famous sights in the “Fiery Furnace” National park next to Moab is the balancing rock. This is a shot from afar, but when you get closer to it you can see that it is literally poised over the edge and looks like it is going to topple over any second.

When I first arrived in the USA in 1971 THIS was the car I bought. It was a 1967 Corvette Stingray and I was 26 years old. Mine actually was a convertible, but it was RED, had a “four on the floor” manual transmission attached to a 287 high performance engine. I did not have the hard top. At the Moab car show I saw this beauty parked in the road and it brought back a lot of really good memories. What a STUNNING CAR that was….I should have kept it. It would be worth a fortune now…ah well. It was fun while it lasted.

I am in Moab. Its an amazing part of the world. Pink canyons, scrub desert, big sky and huge trucks. Everybody in Moab seems to have a fixation with road transportation. They drive big trucks and hold an annual car show that folks come in from all over the West to attend. This is me up in the mountains overlooking Moab.

After the AGM (Annual General Meeting) it was time for a break and I headed off to Moab in Utah. Moab is one of the beauty spots of the world, but to get there you have to drive through the Glenwood Springs Canyon, which in itself is both stunning and an engineering miracle. I took this shot to explain what I mean. If you look to the right you have TWO multi lane Interstate Highways (I 70), one running East and one running West. If you look to the left you see TWO cross continental railways tracks edged into the mountain and in between you have the mighty Colorado river making its way down to California. The Canyon itself is stunning and so is the engineering.

We held our Annual General Meeting today and at the same time our new show platform arrived. The timing was PERFECT. The stockholders were able to hear about the show plans for the year and then walk outside to get a view of the new platform. I think it catches our two tea concepts really well and in such a way that they are linked. There is a common theme that makes sense. Let me know what you think….The rifle shown in the picture with my Masai guide and tracker is a 410 Elephant gun and is there to scare away any animals…not to shoot them! Just in case you were wondering!! I gave up shooting things a long time ago.

The studio is used to record sound tracks for CD’s and the equipment was AWESOME. One of my lifelong ambitions has always been to be a drummer in a Rock n’ Roll band and I have my own drum set at home. I played the drums you can see in the background whilst they were setting up the mikes, but I’m not sure I impressed anyone. At least no-one offered me a contract as I was leaving. Guess I had better stick to tea.

One of the strange things about life is that you never really get to hear your own voice when you are speaking. You get to hear how everybody else sounds, but not how YOU sound. Well, one of our major customers felt that I had the accent that would entice customers into his stores to try his chicken and biscuits and my tea. He asked if I would like to record segments for radio ads. Being a complete “ham”, of course I happily accepted the challenge and I found myself in a professional recording studio reading the lines and putting the “icicle” into Coopers Iced Brew Tea”. I had a blast and when I heard my voice for the first time being put out over the professional sound system I didn’t sound at all like the voice I hear echoing in my head for everyday conversation. If you want to hear the ads I think there is a plan afoot to have them on the web in some fashion so you can tune in. I’ll let you know next week how to log in.
