Delayed Flights

August 26th, 2007

Homeward bound and it is the same old story. A delayed flight. We finally left O’Hare at 9.00 pm. Only two hours behind schedule. Hell, nowadays that is considered “on time.” Its been a good week, I will have to come back to Chicago next week because of the chaos of Thursday and the late flights on Friday. No rest for the wicked I guess…

Rugby Game Recap

August 26th, 2007

“The Hat” kept the sun off my head and out of my eyes.  I wish it had done the same for the USA team.  They lost to Munster.  This does not bode well for the World Cup.  The next game the USA  play is going to be against England.  If they cannot beat a Club side what is going to happen to them against the current world Champions, England? I dread to think!  It was a good game to watch and the USA should have won.  They missed three brilliant opportunities to score a try.  Each one involved a dropped ball.  You cannot win games against top flight opponents and pass up good scoring opportunities.

Bazza and Rugby

August 26th, 2007

“BAZZA” Energy tea was prominently displayed at the field and announced over the system so there was more than an element of work going on ….

The Rugby Guys

August 26th, 2007

These are the friends who were smart enough to watch the Old Boys game. Bracketed by Guinness signs, we are a fine group of Rugby supporters. Today, we support the USA national team play Munster from Ireland.

Love That Chicken!!!

August 25th, 2007

“Love that Chicken” is dead right.  Its good to be here.  Thursday was a disaster for airlines. Two huge storms passed through Chicago and the result was that no flights left O’Hare after 3 pm.  A night in NY then out to La Guardia again to catch a 1.30pm to Chicago, a day late.  Well Good luck on that idea as well.  I arrive in the windy city at 6.pm so Friday is shot as well, so it is Saturday morning before I get a chance to make a call on the Popeye’s store I am working with.  I am staying in Chicago for the night, because the USA Rugby team is playing the 2006 European Champions on Sunday in a warm up for the World Cup.  But that is tomorrow.  Today is business, an old Boys Rugby game, then dinner with some friends.

Soul of the World Tea Room

August 18th, 2007

I loved the look of this tea room.  It was closed for the month of August. That’s a pity because it looked interesting. I liked “Have Peace in your heart” and although “Soul of the World Tea Room” is a tad over-reaching it does claim its place.  You have no doubt about how the owner feels about his/her tea room.  I would have enjoyed a little peace in my heart..

As an after-note because that is all it deserves, the stone, my dreaded companion of the last two weeks has moved on its merry way.  At least I think it has.  An x-ray in a couple of months will tell me for sure, but at the moment I am taking my feeling of well being to mean that it has left me. So I am back on the road again.  My life was on hold for a while..no longer!
