So what is it with Pumpkins and Halloween? Is it because you can carve a scary face out of pumpkin and then put a candle in it….? They are such a huge part of this season. We have large fields nearby full of pumpkins that folks pay to go and pick themselves…I struggle a bit with the season because of cultural differences I guess…..come November 5 I’ll be celebrating Guy Fawkes day and no one here will have a clue as to what I am talking about!

Boulder and Halloween…need I say more? The Fruit and Nuts all come out to play…and there are a lot of them…all in good fun of course…these look like a couple of Football Cheerleaders….you know, the kind that run around in those hot outfits trying to rally the crowds…

Truly one of the great picture I have ever taken….here is my dog “Max”
after a trip out into the snow. It must have something to do with his curly hair because he looks a little like a sculpted Poodle….

The snow has stopped at last. I am surrounded by broken boughs, snapped limbs and masses of the white stuff….no point in trying to dig myself out of this…better to wait until the sun comes out…

This was my front door after two days of snow and it was still snowing…..on days like this a warm fire, a good book and a lack of a snow plow is a very good thing.

Back in Boulder and a snow hits out of nowhere. One minute the folks on the radio are saying “clear and Sunny” next minute they are telling us to stock up with food and wood, a “Big ‘Un” is coming. Most of the time they are wrong….this time they were right.

Then up to Vail with friends who had flown in and a weekend of golf, good food, tall tales, and even better wine. It was the last weekend that the golf course was open next to my home there so the greens were in great shape and I got consecutive “birdies” on two par threes…it was a highlight of a week full of highlights!!

My Birthday party consists of old friends from around the country. My gift to myself was an evening in their company! It was a black tie affair..a lot of tales were told, songs were sung and a good time was had by all…including me. I could tell I had a really good time the next morning!! By the way, the ladies joined us later on in the evening so it was not an entirely “Stage” affair…

Friends have been invited from around the country to join in the festivities and of course it includes “Rat” with whom I compete for the “RATCOOP” trophy at golf. The day of the game dawns misty and cold…no matter…Rat has been promising to take the trophy back to California with him and away from this Colorado cold. Good Luck Rat!
