Sarasota Statue

The iconic picture that was taken in Times Square NY at the end of the second World War (and now thought to be posed) dominates the horizon in Sarasota FLA…..I suppose it makes sense.  A lot of the residents or snow birds in Sarasota come from the generation that fought the war and this daily reminder defines their generation.  I wonder what my generation will be remembered for….the Vietnam War for sure…the generation that was the first generation that had a real shot at being educated?  Looking back I wonder if we made the most of our opportunities…? I know that when I see the sailor kissing the nurse I am looking at a time long gone by….strange in a way because the uniforms have not changed that much…..
