“She loved this place”
March 31st, 2009My mother died last year and chose to be cremated and asked that her ashes be buried in her garden. My sister and I followed her instructions but there was no plaque to memorialize her. This was the first chance we have had to remedy that, so we had a plaque made with a simple yet meaningful sentiment, “She loved this place.”….indeed she did.
World Travelers
March 14th, 2009
James and Caryn, world travelers now, having spent the last year enjoying Europe in all its various glories are not wending their way back to Australia..via South America. They adopted Nadine a few years ago as “Granma” and their visit to Boulder involved lengthy discussions with “G” on the meaning of life and the difference between JB and Johnny Walker. One inspired the other I suspect…

March 6th, 2009
Here are Toby and yours truly, two old partners in crime reminiscing about the good old days. Toby still has a twinkle in his eye and listens to everything being said. He moves slow, but don’t we all at 90? I think he is a testament to tea drinking…and a few good scotches along the way. Anne, Toby’s daughter had arranged a family reunion and it was a gathering of the clans…it was wonderful to be a part of it all. I was so very glad that I made the trip.
A Certain Similarity
March 1st, 2009Wedding Anniversery
February 11th, 2009
Sandy and I forgot our tenth wedding anniversary completely. I kid you not!! We flew home from a ski trip (Sandy with a broken leg) and found a card congratulating us on making 10 years of marriage. We looked at each other and both gasped “its been ten years?” Anyway, we have actually forgotten the event a couple of times since then, but not this year. Here we are 28 years of marriage and still going strong…..
The Departure
February 7th, 2009Nadine’s Birthday
January 3rd, 2009
The season is almost over but we have one more celebration to complete. Sandy’s mother, Nadine turns 80 on January 3 so we leave the wilds of Vail to return to the wilds of Boulder for the party. Nadine’s favorite food in the entire world is CRAB…so we have a crab boil. Its so easy! You take Crawdads, crab, shrimp, potatoes, corn, friends and pour them around and onto a table covered with newspapers and everybody dives in!! Nadine had a good night, and so did all her family and friends. The new year beckons..I hope it is a good one for all of you who read this blog…..
